We’ve been talking about what you can get started in your garden during this late winter period, and the answer is: lots and lots of things!

But there are some plants that should not be started now, no matter if you plan to start them inside, in your greenhouse, or in the ground outside.

The plants that should not be started are some of your summer crops:

🪴 Basil
🪴 Green beans
🪴 Cucumber, squash, zucchini, & okra—Most of these plants only need 1-2 weeks in pots before being transplanted outside. You don’t want to stunt their growth by keeping them in pots for too long and the ground outside is too cold for them.

All of these crops like warm soil, and do not cope well or live in weather that is still this chilly.
